Art, opera, theatre, concerts
Sophisticated, lively and quirky: Hamburg's multifaceted cultural scene cannot simply be pigeonholed. No less than three major orchestras in the Hanseatic city are dedicated to the most beautiful works in music history. The Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg has not only been setting the tone in the State Opera House for 175 years, but is also a regular guest in the Laeiszhalle, just like the NDR Symphony Orchestra or the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. This magnificent music hall offers a wonderful ambience for a fantastic evening of classical music. The Hamburg State Opera has been providing cultural delights of the highest order since 1678 and, more recently, the Elbphilharmonie. A variety of theatres are available in Hamburg, whether classical at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus or cult at Schmidts Tivoli on the Reeperbahn - there is something for every taste.
